In 1912, the Sardinian Renzo Frau registered the Poltrona Frau tradename with the Turin Chamber of Commerce. Following a series of generational handovers, in 1962, the Nazareno Gabrielli group bought out the Turin company, which one year later moved to Tolentino. In 1980s, Poltrona Frau expanded its production to include the automotive and contract sectors.
